When we talk about the budget for studying in the US, we also have to consider the amount you will spend before departure, during the application process.
i) University Application Fee
The fee will vary from USD 30 to USD 110 (INR 2,004 to INR 7356). You will also need to mind the courier charge you will have to incur since most universities in the US require your hard copy documents such as recommendation letter, transcripts etc. in hard-copy.
ii) Entrance Exam fee
To qualify for a degree admission in any US universities, you need to take a standardised admission and English language test. Undergraduates will need to take IELTS/TOEFL and SAT; graduate degree applicants will have to take the IELTS/TOEFL and GRE/GMAT depending on the type of programs that is being chosen.

iii) Visa Fee
Before you apply for US student visa, you are required to get the certificate of eligibility for nonimmigrant (F-1) student status also known as form I-20. The fee for getting the form I-20 is USD 200, approximately INR 13,338. Once received, you can apply for visa and book your appointments. The visa fee will account to USD 160 (approx INR 10,671).
