Executive Summary: The TUM Application Hybrid Model

TUM does NOT accept applications via Uni-Assist directly. However, international students with an Indian B.Tech/B.Sc degree must first get a VPD Certificate (Vorprüfungsdokumentation) from Uni-Assist (Uni Assist Manual) and then complete their final application on TUMonline (campus.tum.de).

⚠️ May 31st Deadline Warning: While most German public universities allow applications until July 15th, TUM closes all Winter Intake applications on MAY 31ST. Because Uni-Assist takes 4-6 weeks to issue a VPD certificate, Indian applicants MUST apply for their VPD on Uni-Assist by April 1st!

• Visit campus.tum.de and register an applicant account.
• Verify your email and save your TUMID credentials.

Step 2: Select Your Master's Program

Choose your target stream:

Step 3: Upload Required PDF Documents

• Uni-Assist VPD PDF: Upload your evaluated grade conversion PDF.
• Academic SOP: Course-specific Statement of Purpose tailored to TUM professors (Sop Europass Cv Guide).
• Europass CV: Tabular CV format.
• APS Certificate: Mandatory for Indian passport holders (APS Certificate Guide).

TUM requires applicants to fill an online table mapping their Indian B.Tech course subjects against TUM's foundational modules (ECTS Credit Mapping):

• Enter the exact title of your Indian university subjects.
• Enter the credits (converted to ECTS) and syllabus descriptions.
• Example for M.Sc. Informatics: You must prove minimum ECTS credits in Higher Mathematics, Theoretical Computer Science, Data Structures & Algorithms, and Computer Architecture.
• Stage 2 (Online Written Entrance Exam / Interview): If your Stage 1 points fall between 50 and 69 points, TUM invites you to an online proctored entrance exam testing Linear Algebra, Algorithms, and System Architecture (TUM Efv Entrance Exam Guide). Scoring $\ge 70$ points in Stage 2 secures your admission!

What Happens in Stage 2 (If You Score 55 to 69 Points)?

• You will be invited to a 20-minute online academic interview with 2 TUM professors via Zoom/Teams, or required to take a proctored online entrance exam.
• Questions focus 100% on core Computer Science theory (Algorithms, Complexity, Math) and your Bachelor thesis project.

4 Rules for Winning Admission at TUM Munich

1. Submit Early Before May 31st: Do NOT wait until May 30th! TUM's portal experiences heavy traffic in the final 48 hours.
2. Ensure High ECTS Match in Mathematics: Indian B.Tech degrees often lack theoretical computer science and advanced linear algebra credits. Select electives in your final year that boost your math/theory credits.
3. GRE Score Card Boost: While GRE is not strictly mandatory for all TUM programs, submitting a GRE Quant score of 164+ gives you bonus points in Stage 1 screening (GRE GMAT Waiver Directory).
