Executive Summary: What is APS and Why Is It Mandatory?

The APS Certificate is an authenticity verification issued by the German Embassy in New Delhi.

Due to cases of forged degree certificates and fake marksheets from certain fake educational institutes in India, the German Government made APS verification compulsory for all Indian applicants.

⚠️ The Golden Rule for Parents: Apply for APS at least 4 to 5 months before your target university application deadline! A delay in getting your APS certificate will block both your university applications and your VFS visa appointment.

Complete Document Checklist for Indian Applicants

Before registering online, gather these documents. All documents must be clean color photocopies (Do NOT send original certificates!).

[ ] 2. APS FEE PAYMENT RECEIPT
 Copy of the ₹18,000 transaction receipt (CCAvenue / Bank confirmation).

[ ] 3. DEGREE CERTIFICATE / PROVISIONAL DEGREE CERTIFICATE
 Color photocopy. If final degree is not issued yet, submit a Provisional Degree Certificate (PDC) from your university.

[ ] 4. ALL SEMESTER MARKSHEETS (Semesters 1 to 6 / 8)
 Color photocopies of every single semester marksheet. Consolidated marksheets alone are NOT accepted.

[ ] 5. CLASS 10th & CLASS 12th CERTIFICATES & MARKSHEETS
 Color photocopies of CBSE, ICSE, or State Board certificates showing date of birth and marks.

[ ] 6. PASSPORT COPY
 Color photocopy of Passport First Page (Photo/Details) and Last Page (Address).

Step 1: Online Registration at APS India

1. Go to the official portal: aps-india.de.
2. Click Register Now and fill in your personal details exactly as printed on your Indian Passport.
3. Select your category:

• Category 1 (Master's Applicants): If you have already completed or are in the final semester of your 3-year or 4-year Bachelor's degree in India.

Step 2: Pay the ₹18,000 Fee

1. Pay the non-refundable fee of ₹18,000 online via CCAvenue (Net Banking, UPI, Credit/Debit Card).
2. Save and print the payment confirmation receipt.

Step 3: Courier Document Package to New Delhi

Package all color photocopies in an A4 envelope. Personal drop-offs at the German Embassy or APS office are strictly prohibited. Send via BlueDart, DHL, DTDC, or Speed Post to:

Step 4: The Professor Verification Email Protocol (Crucial Step!)

Once APS receives your physical courier, they verify your marks directly with your Indian college:

• APS sends an automated verification email to the official university email address of your HOD, Dean, or Professor (e.g., professor@du.ac.in or hod@vtu.ac.in).
• Warning: Gmail/Yahoo personal email addresses of professors are NOT accepted by APS!
• Pro-Tip: Inform your professor beforehand so they check their inbox/spam folder and respond to the APS verification link immediately.

Step 5: Receive Your Digital APS Certificate

Once your university verifies your marks, APS approves your file and emails a digitally signed PDF certificate to your registered email address. This PDF contains a verification QR code used by German universities and VFS visa officers.

Trap 1: Providing a Gmail Email Address for Professor Verification

• Mistake: Entering prof.sharma123@gmail.com.
• Consequence: APS will put your application on hold for months.
• Fix: Always provide an official domain email address (e.g., @university.ac.in or @college.edu.in).

Trap 2: Sending Original Certificates via Courier

• Mistake: Couriering your original degree certificate or original marksheets.
• Consequence: Risk of loss. APS explicitly states never send original documents.
• Fix: Send clean, clear color photocopies only.

Trap 3: Submitting Only Consolidated Marksheet

• Mistake: Attaching a 1-page consolidated marksheet without individual semester marksheets.
• Consequence: Application flagged as incomplete.
• Fix: Include individual marksheets for every single semester (Sem 1 to Sem 6/8).

Trap 4: Applying Too Late (Intake Jam)

• Peak Delay Window: April to July (Before Winter Intake).
• Fix: Apply for APS in December or January of your final year, even if you don't have your final semester marksheet yet! You can apply with transcripts up to Semester 5 (3-yr) or Semester 7 (4-yr).
